If Yoga Journal is the Rolling Stone of yoga mags (bloated, irrelevant, self-important, yet still occasionally capable of good reporting), and Yoga International is the Trouser Press (philosophically on-target, good-hearted, and a joy to read), then Ascent, which I just discovered recently, is the Maximum Rock'n'Roll (totally unslick, in dogged pursuit of the truth, if not always home to the most dazzling prose).
